Ada-Choy

Are you tired of second-guessing yourself and feeling anxious about every decision? Do you find it hard to quiet the critical voice inside, impacting your confidence? Life often brings challenges like persistent overthinking, self-criticism, managing triggers, and navigating difficult emotions.

In my work, I have found that I have a passion for helping girls and women work through concerns around building self-esteem, managing anxiety and processing past trauma. Other areas that I enjoy helping you to overcome, including – disordered eating, ADHD, managing emotions and stress.

As a member of the Asian and neurodivergent communities, as well as an ally to the 2SLGBTQ+ community, I understand the significance of representation and acceptance.

I am committed to utilizing my insights to foster a culturally affirming space that respects diverse backgrounds and identities.

I approach therapy with a focus on you, embracing collaboration and personalization. Your unique story shapes our sessions as we work together toward your specific goals. Your journey will be centered around your needs and aspirations, ensuring our work together is meaningful and aligned with your individual path to growth and healing.

My aim is to foster a safe, non-judgmental, and inclusive space where we can work towards goals such as deepening self-awareness, nurturing emotional regulation, and cultivating effective coping strategies. I’m dedicated to creating a supportive environment where you feel understood and empowered to navigate life’s challenges with clarity and hope.

As someone who believes in meeting their client where they are, I employ a number of modalities of therapy that are person-centered. My main framework is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with influences and strategies from Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness-based approaches, and psychodynamic.

My experience in mental health encompasses a diverse range of roles over the past few years. I’ve had the privilege of contributing to the Mental Health Commission of Canada, supporting the facilitation of Mental Health First Aid courses. I’ve also dedicated my time to volunteering on crisis lines, offering empathy and crucial support to individuals during their moments of distress.

Ada is a Registered Psychotherapist and holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She also completed a Bachelor of Science with Honours and a double-major in Psychology and Biochemistry from the University of Ottawa.
