Therapist Details

Jenny Jackson, MSW, RSW

Registered Social Worker

I am a social worker who believes in the power of persons and peoples:  I work with clients to create opportunities for healing and growth.

My background lies in fitness, having worked as a personal trainer and yoga instructor for a decade.  I have seen the healing power of movement, and mindfulness unfold in this work.  This brought me into the field of social work, working at the Ottawa Distress Centre, where I worked extensively within the field of crisis and suicide intervention, as both front-line support, and as community educator delivering trainings such as active listening, limits and boundaries, mental health awareness and Living Works ASIST.  I am a Bronze Level ASIST trainer, working for Talk Tools Training.  I also work at Vesta Recovery Program for Women Inc., as support staff.  At Vesta, I have delivered therapeutic groups concerning the importance of life basics, boundaries, and other related topics.  I also deliver a trauma based yoga program at Vesta.  I keep up to date with the latest trauma based research, understanding the importance of melding mindfulness techniques with traditional therapeutic approaches.

In practice, I work to combine a solid knowledge of the neurobiological underpinnings of trauma while providing a safe and welcoming environment, creatively combining these aspects of care to customise healing journeys in partnership with my clients.
