MaKayla ChartrandMaKayla Chartrand is a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist who works with individuals, couples, and relationships. MaKayla has experience in treating mood (i.e., depression), anxiety (i.e., GAD, Panic, and phobias), Behavioural difficulties (e.g., anger, impulsivity), trauma (e.g. sexual assault, attachment injuries, childhood abuse), sex and intimacy issues, and substance use/addiction. MaKayla also has experience in helping clients with relationship issues, adjustment difficulties, and navigating life transitions in addition to working with survivors of sex trafficking and gender-based violence. In her work with clients, MaKayla engages in a trauma-informed, holistic practice within a feminist lens to provide a safe and comfortable environment for clients. She aims to develop a collaborative, individualized treatment plan to support client’s well-being with recognition of the structural and socioeconomic systems used to oppress members of our society.

MaKayla aims to incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness into her interventions with clients, acknowledging that each client holds a unique and individualized life story. In her practice, MaKayla values compassion, empathy, empowerment, and the development of coping skills and emotional regulation. She is an empathetic, compassionate therapist with a special interest in relationship, sex & trauma therapy.

MaKayla is a recent Master of Social Work graduate from Carleton University. She also holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Trent University and is in the process of gaining her yoga teacher training certificate. MaKayla identifies as a white, cisgender, queer woman with a passion for baking, writing, and social justice. She continues to stay current in the latest research and theories to support her work with clients.


Hourly rate for individuals and couples $150 (Plus HST)
